This painting began with something I cannot easily say out loud: that even within an adult life that seems settled, there are still brief encounters that leave a deep mark. Sometimes all that can be offered in a single moment is a small gesture — a little support, a spark of inspiration, a feeling of being seen from a new angle.
To me, such moments feel like small lights appearing unexpectedly: a flame in the forest, a distant window glowing in the dark. Perhaps no one will look out from that window again. Perhaps it was only a passing glimpse. But it still matters that, for a while, it was there.
This painting is my way of standing quietly before that light and waiting a little longer.
